Background
Zuojhen Fossil Park needed its ticketing modules adjusted to park operations and an automated gate added. The Tainan City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau procured the project in 2025; JIE HENG won the tender and delivered by November 2025.
Problems to solve
- Counter sales, kiosks and the gate ran separately; visitor counts were tallied by hand.
- Ticketing had to support mobile payment and the partner bank's card terminals.
- Sales could not stop when the server connection dropped.
- Pre-printed physical tickets, partner discounts and complimentary tickets had no system.
- Retail sales from the park's shop system (ERPOS) had to be reconciled with ticketing.
What JIE HENG did
Ticketing. Two counter POS units and two kiosks share ticket type management; counter sales print directly to ticket printers with a QR code for the gate; cash, card and account payments; kiosks power on and sleep on schedule, warn when consumables run low, settle cards daily on schedule and push the result via LINE.
Gate validation. A two-lane gate with QR scanners and card terminals checks ticket type, validity and headcount and raises alerts on anomalies; iPASS tap-to-pay admits visitors directly and writes transactions back to the ticketing database and reports. Entry counts feed the live display above the ticket office.
Offline sales. POS and server sell simultaneously; if either fails or the link drops, sales continue and data syncs on recovery.
Physical tickets and promotions. Issue, allocation, cancellation, discount tickets and post-entry registration of pre-printed tickets; partner promotion setup applied in the sales screen; manual gate headcounts (gender, nationality, free admission) recorded to the database.
Back office and reports. Separate administrator and cashier roles; sales statistics by ticket type, cash and mobile payment settlement reports; ERPOS retail transactions integrated and consolidated automatically. An API was provided for the bureau's integration.
Security. No sensitive data stored in plain text, operation logs with user, time and content, pre-launch vulnerability scanning and remediation, scheduled backups with manual restore.
Outcome
- Counter, kiosk and gate share one ticketing data set with live visitor counts.
- Mobile payment, credit cards and iPASS all accepted.
- Delivered in three phases: requirements analysis, functional design specification, go-live with training.
Maintenance
One-year warranty after acceptance with 8-hour response and 24-hour recovery, then annual maintenance.
What this means for enterprises
An integration of POS, payment, gate hardware and back-office reporting; the same approach applies to any venue or event that needs ticketing or access control.
